Agnes Acen leads Gloford's communications function and manages the Community Radio program. She holds a Master's in Mass Communication from Makerere University and started her career as a radio journalist in Gulu, northern Uganda.
Agnes joined Gloford in 2015 to help launch the community radio station. Under her leadership, the station now broadcasts in six local languages, reaches over 2 million listeners weekly, and produces original content on health, agriculture, civic education, and community development. The station's listener feedback shows a 78% trust rating — among the highest for any community media outlet in East Africa.
Beyond radio, Agnes oversees the organization's digital presence, media relations, and storytelling output. She has built a team of four content producers who document stories from the field and produce reports, videos, and social media content that make the organization's work visible to a wider audience.
Agnes was awarded the Uganda Media Women's Association Prize for Excellence in Community Journalism in 2021. She mentors young journalists and communication students through the organization's internship program.
