Day 1 of Waste Entrepreneurs Training Successfully Kicks Off in Gulu
Today marked the successful commencement of the two-day Waste Entrepreneurs Training at Hotel Kakanyero in Gulu City, bringing together waste entrepreneurs from Gulu under the Wealth from Waste Project.
What makes this training particularly remarkable is its strong commitment to inclusion and equal opportunity. Participants represent diverse backgrounds and abilities, demonstrating that entrepreneurship in the waste value chain is accessible to all. Entrepreneurs with hearing impairments from Soroti, entrepreneurs with visual impairments from Lira, and entrepreneurs using wheelchairs and living with limb impairments in Gulu are all actively participating, sharing experiences, and strengthening their enterprises.
Supported by WOORD EN DAAD and Wilde Ganzen, and implemented by GLOFORD Uganda, the Wealth from Waste Project continues to promote sustainable livelihoods through inclusive entrepreneurship and environmental stewardship.
The first day focused on mindset transformation, encouraging participants to view themselves not merely as individuals earning a living, but as business leaders and entrepreneurs capable of creating lasting economic and social impact. This session generated meaningful discussions, reflection, and renewed confidence among participants.
The engagement, enthusiasm, and knowledge-sharing witnessed throughout the day underscore the tremendous potential that exists within the waste value chain sector. Participants are already exploring innovative approaches to business growth, market opportunities, and enterprise sustainability.
As the training continues tomorrow, we look forward to equipping participants with practical skills, business development strategies, and valuable networks that will enable them to expand their enterprises and increase their impact within their communities.
This training serves as a powerful reminder that inclusion is not simply a principle—it is a driver of innovation, resilience, and sustainable development. Together, we are building a waste management sector where every entrepreneur has the opportunity to thrive.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our partners, donors, stakeholders, and well-wishers whose continued support is making this transformation possible.
