On International Youth Day, Uganda Martyrs University, Ngetta Campus, became a hub of energy and empowerment as youth from Lira and neighboring regions gathered for a day filled with health services, skills development, and inspiring messages from local leaders. The event, organized in partnership with organizations like GLOFORD Uganda, GWED-G, and Caritas Switzerland, aimed to raise health awareness among young people through essential services such as HIV/AIDS testing, circumcision, and reproductive health education.
The day began with a strong focus on health, recognizing the critical role it plays in the lives of young people. Various partners provided free medical services, offering the youth an opportunity to safeguard their health. Participants engaged in blood testing, received information on reproductive health, and were encouraged to take proactive steps towards living healthier lives.
The event also featured testimonials from participants, including one from Ogweng Thomas, who shared his personal commitment to staying healthy. He urged his fellow youth to be mindful of their lifestyle choices, prioritize regular health checkups, and ensure that those who are unwell receive the necessary medical care. “It is important to mind your health and take care of yourselves,” Thomas cautioned, reminding the youth that their health is their most valuable asset.
