Empowering Communities: Successful Training and Booster Grant Distribution under the SAIC Project

In a significant step towards sustainable economic development, GLOFORD Uganda, in collaboration with Plan International Uganda, recently conducted a transformative training program for 49 participants from five wards of Lira City. This initiative, part of the SAIC project, aimed to equip selected beneficiaries with essential skills in preparation for the upcoming booster grant support.

The training focused on critical areas crucial for economic empowerment, including record keeping, basic business planning, and cash book development, investment planning, savings, and cash flow management. These skills proved vital for empowering individuals and fostering community resilience. By learning to maintain accurate records, participants were able to track their financial health and make informed business decisions. Basic business planning skills enabled them to set realistic goals and strategies, paving the way for growth and sustainability.

Following the training, GLOFORD Uganda and Plan International Uganda successfully distributed booster grants to the trained youths, specifically targeting vulnerable communities. The distribution event was attended by local council members, youth representatives, and other beneficiaries, including refugees and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The process was marked by transparency and community involvement, ensuring that those in need received the support intended for them. Each step of the distribution was diligently monitored, with no issues reported, highlighting the effectiveness of the collaboration between GLOFORD and Plan International. Beneficiaries signed to affirm receipt of their requested support, ensuring accountability and reinforcing trust in the distribution process.

The CEO, Dr. Morris Chris Ongom, played an active role in the successful handover of the booster grants to the beneficiaries. His involvement underscored GLOFORD’s commitment to supporting those in need and fostering a positive impact within the community.

This initiative not only empowered individuals but also strengthened the fabric of our community, promoting resilience and sustainable economic development. Together, we are building a brighter future for all.
