Ms. Apio Claudia | Board Member

Claudia currently heads the programming department of Lira NGO Forum through providing leadership and directive to not only program staff but also to the member organizations as well. She effectively implemented the citizen’s accountability platform – CAP project that was funded by the Democratic Governance Facility DGF. Key results from the CAP Project include strengthening citizen’s participation and engagement with local political and technical leaders that has now resulted into improved service delivery in the selected sub-counties. Claudia Led the training and mentorship of the user committees and the monitors who are key community structures responsible for identification of the service delivery gaps and convening community meeting to discuss and generated action points to address these challenges.

Claudia has organized district, regional and national advocacy engagements while working with Lira NGO forum in the past four years. Because of her strong people and project management skills, Claudia was identified to coordinate Lango region in the implementation of the World Bank funded Social Accountability and Community Monitoring Project(SACM) in collaboration with Uganda Debt Network. The Project exposed her to working with government structures under the Northern Uganda Social Action Fund – NUSAF structures since the project was monitoring the transparency in which project procurements were being conducted the NUSAF sub-projects.

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining Lira NGO forum, Claudia provided leadership to various projects that she implemented in Northern Uganda including coordinating the progamme activities of Youth Alive Uganda in 2009, Working as the senior Protection Officer with ASB in Pader District in 2010 providing legal aid support and ensuring human rights violations and incidences are responded to. Claudia also coordinated the AIDS progamme in Pader with Uganda Network of AIDS Services Organizations where she established strong alliances and joint programs for the support of people living with HIV/AIDS in Pader district.

EDUCATION

Claudia is currently pursuing a Master Degree in Business Administration of Uganda Management Institute – UMI. She holds a PGD in Project Planning and Management – UMI, Degree in Laws – Uganda Christian University and Dip in law from Law Development Centre Uganda. She is trained in grants Management – MSTCDC Arusha, Social accountability, Budget Monitoring and Tracking and Community Mobilization. Claudia is Passionate about social protection and accountability and believes in a just and fair society where citizens are free to exercise their democratic rights and freedom including participation in decisions that affect them and their development
